Who are Angels:

• Psalm 33:6

1 Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful. 2 Praise the Lord with the harp; Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings. 3 Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy. 4 For the word of the Lord is right, And all His work is done in truth. 5 He loves righteousness and justice; The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. 6 By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. 7He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deep in storehouses. 8 Let all the earth fear the Lord; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. 9 For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast. 10 The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing; He makes the plans of the peoples of no effect. 11 The counsel of the Lord stands forever, The plans of His heart to all generations.

Angels were created by Jesus during the creation of the Heavens.

• John 1

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

• Colossians 1:16

16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.

Angels were created. They are not God or gods.

Angels belong to the heavenly aspect of Creation.

Angels were created by God for God.

• Job 38:6-7

6 To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone, 7 When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Angels were created and sang and shouted for joy at the creation of the earth. Therefore they were created before the earth was.

Two Categories:

Good/Elect Angels

Evil/Demons

• Jude 1:5-11

5 But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; 7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. 8 Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries. 9 Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” 10 But these speak evil of whatever they do not know; and whatever they know naturally, like brute beasts, in these things they corrupt themselves. 11 Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.

• Isaiah 14:12-16

12 ”How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! 13 For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ 15 Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit. 16 ”Those who see you will gaze at you, And consider you, saying: ‘Is this the man who made the earth tremble, Who shook kingdoms,

Lucifer was not allowed to say “I will”. He was not given the power to choose or have self-will.

• Hebrews 2:14-16

14 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16 For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham.

There is no redemption for Angels

• 2 Chronicles 18:18-21

18 Then Micaiah said, “Therefore hear the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing on His right hand and His left. 19 And the Lord said, ‘Who will persuade Ahab king of Israel to go up, that he may fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ So one spoke in this manner, and another spoke in that manner. 20 Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, and said, ‘I will persuade him.’ The Lord said to him, ‘In what way?’ 21 So he said, ‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And the Lord said, ‘You shall persuade him and also prevail; go out and do so.’

Angels and Demons both report to God about their doings. They may have authority over parts of earth due to Adam, but Adam reported to God. So must they!

• Hebrews 12:22-24

22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.

• Revelation 5:11-14

11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands,

There are so many angels in the city of God in heaven that we cannot number them.

• Genesis 28:12 NKJV

Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

The go to and come from Heaven through Jerusalem.

• Matthew 18:10

10 ”Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven.

Angels can be on earth but in heaven… supernatural presence?

When you get outside the speed of light you can be in more than one place at one time. Light is the barrier for physical things. That is why light was the first component of creation.

Nature of Angels:

Angel means messenger. This is their office and responsibility.

People do not become angels. That would be a demotion.

Job 38:7 Angels created before people, new ones not created. Not redeemed.

Heb 12:22-23 Angels are separate from people. 1 Cor 6:3 Believers judge angels. 1 Cor 13 Tongues or men and of angels, not the same. Eph 3:10 Church wisdom made known to angels. People do not become angels or vs vs.

Angels have a personal nature, personality. Michael/Lucifer. Angels have personal attributes. Intelligent. Able to discern.

• 2 Samuel:17 & 20

17 Your maidservant said, ‘The word of my lord the king will now be comforting; for as the angel of God, so is my lord the king in discerning good and evil. And may the Lord your God be with you.’ “

20 To bring about this change of affairs your servant Joab has done this thing; but my lord is wise, according to the wisdom of the angel of God, to know everything that is in the earth.”

• Daniel 9:23 (Angel says)

23 At the beginning of your supplications the command went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly beloved; therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision:

There is an emotional/mental capacity

• 1 Peter 1:12

12 To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven–things which angels desire to look into.

• Luke 15

7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.

They are not subject to the range of emotions we have. If they have love it is for God not you. They are happy to serve you for Him, but they don’t LOVE you, per se.

They can be Angry:

• Exodus 23:21

21 Beware of Him and obey His voice; do not provoke Him, for He will not pardon your transgressions; for My name is in Him.

• Numbers 22

24 Then the Angel of the Lord stood in a narrow path between the vineyards, with a wall on this side and a wall on that side. 25 And when the donkey saw the Angel of the Lord, she pushed herself against the wall and crushed Balaam’s foot against the wall; so he struck her again. 26 Then the Angel of the Lord went further, and stood in a narrow place where there was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left. 27 And when the donkey saw the Angel of the Lord, she lay down under Balaam; so Balaam’s anger was aroused, and he struck the donkey with his staff. 28 Then the Lord opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you have struck me these three times?” 29 And Balaam said to the donkey, “Because you have abused me. I wish there were a sword in my hand, for now I would kill you!” 30 So the donkey said to Balaam, “Am I not your donkey on which you have ridden, ever since I became yours, to this day? Was I ever disposed to do this to you?” And he said, “No.” 31Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the Angel of the Lord standing in the way with His drawn sword in His hand; and he bowed his head and fell flat on his face. 32 And the Angel of the Lord said to him, “Why have you struck your donkey these three times? Behold, I have come out to stand against you, because your way is perverse before Me. 33 The donkey saw Me and turned aside from Me these three times. If she had not turned aside from Me, surely I would also have killed you by now, and let her live.” 34 And Balaam said to the Angel of the Lord, “I have sinned, for I did not know You stood in the way against me. Now therefore, if it displeases You, I will turn back.”

They have a moral will before the rebellion. They will not allow you to worship them.

• Revelation 19:10 NKJV

And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

They Contend and fight for things. As with Sodom and Gomorrah with Abraham. Michael contended for the body of Moses. Jude 9. Rev 12:7, Dan 10:13 Contended with demon in Persia. They will fight for their duty. They do fight for right and cause. The ultimate Marine Corp of Heaven. A sense of cause behind their obedience

They Worship and it’s personal. Heb 1:6, Rev 5:11, Rev 7:11

They talk and communicate. Came to Zechariah. Got angry for doubt. They talk to each other, when the angel called for help in Persia.

Incorporeal. No Physical Body. They have Heavenly Spiritual bodies, not earthly material bodies. However they can react with our nature. Heavenly Material to Heavenly Material is solid. But it is not material to us here, unless they are slowed to our frame.

Elijah’s servant needed to see beyond the light line to see the angelic army.

Billy Graham Said: angels may become visible by choice but our eyes are not constructed to see them. Just as various animals have the ability to perceive sight/smell/sound beyond human capacity to interact with, so angels are beyond our ability to perceive.

They are localized. They most come or go. Dan 21 Gabriel in swift flight. Can be delayed.

Luke 2:15 Angels left and returned. Coming and going.

Appear as men in form. Daniel 9:21 The Man Gabriel. When Jesus came back from the dead “Two men in white robes”

You could have walked with angels and never known it. But likely only when you walked I love.

• Hebrews 13

1 Let brotherly love continue. 2 Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.

Abraham saw three men (Angels) that would later destroy Abraham. That meal together prevented the death of Lot. This co-operation means life and death. Lot invited the men in and prevented them from being taken by the men of the city. Lot’s deliverance depended on co-operation

They eat. Angels cooked food for Elijah and ate with Abraham.

Angels are powerful!

• Psalm 103:20

20 Bless the Lord, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word.

1 Thess 1:7 Lord coming with his Mighty Angels

Matthew 28 The stone the angel rolled away was about 8,000 lbs.

One angel killed a 150,000 people in one night.

Angels vary in power. Some need help, others are stronger.

Angels are holy

• Mark 8:38

38 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”

If we draw back or are ashamed of God we can cut off their work in our lives.

They are obedient. Subject to God in you, not just you.

• Psalm 103:20

20 Bless the Lord, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word.

One could say that Matthew 6 refers to men obeying on earth as angels do in heaven. The same level of obedience.

• Matthew 6:10

10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

Angels do no die

• Luke 20:31-41

35 But those who are counted worthy to attain that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage; 36 nor can they die anymore, for they are equal to the angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.

Angels do not marry or have babies. There are no baby angels. Don’t bring fat baby angels to Pastor Terri.

Angels harken to the voice of God through you. If you are not voicing the Word of God they cannot work in your behalf.

Our prayer life activates the assignment of Angels in our lives. We do not command them, but God commands them through his word, which we speak in agreement and they respond to.
