  4. Plans Fail. Live by Principles.
  5. Plan plans, not outcomes.
  6. When in doubt: Shift into Low Slow
  7. When Overwhelmed: Take the next indicated step.
  8. What you compromise to keep, you will eventually lose… keep first things first.
  9. Do what’s right, because it’s right, do it right, and do it right away.
  10. Prayer: Is for hearing God’s Agenda not for bringing Him yours. - Ask Him what He’s doing, and participate. Don’t tell Him what you want to see happen.
  11. Theology: Don’t seek out single verses, seek out meta-narratives, themes, and patterns in the whole Bible. Ask Him to reveal His Story to you, and your part in it. Only build theology on what the text of the bible can support (not on your favorite teacher or church tradition
  12. Freedom is not the absence of something, it is the presence of someone (Yeshua HaMashiach).

Albertisms:

  • Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value. Albert Einstein
  • If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough. Albert Einstein
  • The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits. Albert Einstein
  • To admit that you were wrong is to declare that you are wiser now than you were before. Albert Einstein.
  • Stay away from negative people, they have a problem for every solution. AE
  • Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution. AE, What Life Means to Einstein (1924).

Religion is...

  • "Religion is the by-product left over after God's move has turned from movement to monument." Darrell Wolfe
  • Religion is man's attempt to reach God. Jesus is God's attempt to reach man. Unknown
  • Religion attempts to overcome the Knowledge of Evil with the Knowledge of Good; but the Knowledge of Good will never re-connect you to LIFE, which is the real need of man. Life flows from a different tree. (Paraphrase) Bob Hamp

 NT Wright

  • It is central to Christian living that we should celebrate the goodness of Creation, ponder its present brokenness, and insofar as we can, celebrate in advance the healing of the world, the New Creation itself. Art, music, literature, dance, theater, and many other expressions of human delight and wisdom, can all be explored in new ways. NT Wright
  • People who believe in the resurrection, in God making a whole new world in which everything will be set right at last, are unstoppably motivated to work for that new world in the present. NT Wright
  • Do not despise the small but significant act. God probably does not want you to recognize the entire discipline or the entire world of your vocation overnight. Learn to be symbol-makers and story-tellers for the Kingdom of God. NT Wright
  • The great drama will end, not with "saved souls" being snatched up into heaven, away from wicked earth and the mortal bodies which have dragged them down into sin, but with the New Jerusalem coming down from heaven to earth, so that the "dwelling of God is with humans". NT Wright
  • Traditions tell us where we have come from. Scripture itself is a better guide as to where we should be going now. NT Wright
  • Jesus's first followers established a new thing - a network of worship-based, ethically rigorous, egalitarian, philanthropic, fictive kinship groups - "church" for short. NT Wright
  • What we have in Genesis (chapter one) is a lavish description of the house that God is making for Himself to dwell in, for Himself to become known and love in His world. And at the heart of it, He puts an image, which is the living, breathing human being - male and female - who now are to reflect God into the world, and reflect the praises of creation back to God. NT Wright
  • The whole point of the Kingdom of God is Jesus has come to bear witness to the true truth, which is nonviolent. When God wants to take charge of the world, He doesn't send in the tanks. He sends in the poor and the meek. NT Wright

Michael Heiser

  • What the New Testament says about Jesus in this matrix of ideas in Christology has deep, deep Old Testament Ancient Near Eastern roots, and is not just a contrived invention. Michael Heiser
  • Think of the “image” of God as a verb, and you’ll get the idea. We were created to image God, to be his imagers—to represent him or be his proxy to each other and to all the earth. Michael Heiser
  • You are better off knowing what a passage means than you are memorizing it. Michael Heiser
  • "drmshphd Second Temple literature is really important, and therefore, we ought to pay more attention to that material for understanding the Old Testament and how the New Testament uses the Old Testament than to our own denominational traditions. Now that might sound obvious, pay attention to the ancient writers more than you do a modern writer because the ancient writers have the worldview of the cognitive frame of reference in their head. The later guys don’t. That might sound unbelievably simple and elementary and obvious but that is not intuitive for most people in church. It just isn't. They’re not told about that. They're not trained to think that way. They've never seen it modeled for them. The Bible becomes this thing that is filtered through their own personal Christian tradition and that becomes the meaning of the Bible for them. The Bible is used to reinforce something that their group or denomination or church believes. And that just isn’t Bible study. That’s not exegesis." Michael Heiser
  • Yet Christians are trained to think that way about the Bible and the language of the Bible in an entirely different way from the way they use language and that's just a huge mistake. It's a fundamental flaw in the way we think about Scripture. Michael Heiser
  • The New Testament is essentially an inspired commentary on the Old Testament. So we need to pay attention to how the New Testament authors read the Old Testament, how they repurposed it, and their understanding of the it is not going to violate the Old Testament in its own original context. In fact, it will build on it. It will reinforce it. Michael Heiser

LIFE Mission Statement:

I am called to lead the Distressed, In-Debt, and Discontent (1), into the LIFE Jesus promised (2), by showing them how to meditate on God's Words/Thoughts (renew the mind) (3), training them to Get Life through an active relationship with God (spirit) and retraining the brokenness we were all born with (will/mind/soul) (4), and by telling stories that inspire (heart/emotions).

Stories break down the barriers between heart and mind, helping both become stronger (5 & 6). Stories can pull down strongholds which separate our heart from God's!

We are all here on this earth at exactly the time we were meant to be, and the purpose of our life is to seek, grope for, and find God (7); come with me and we'll do LIFE together!

LIFE Verses from the Bible:

  • David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. When his brothers and his father’s household heard about it, they went down to him there. All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their commander. About four hundred men were with him. 1 Samuel 22 | NIV
  • This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Joshua 1:8 | English Standard Version
  • The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have LIFE, and may have it abundantly. John 10:10 | NET Bible
  • 26 And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; Acts 17:26-27 | NKJV
  • And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2 NKJV
  • ...Not by works of righteousness which we did ourselves, but in the measure of his mercy, he gave us salvation, through the washing of the new birth and the giving of new life in the Holy Spirit... Titus 3:4-5, The Bible In Basic English
